For Gryphon’s Moon Coven’s Imbolc ritual this year, Lauren led a ritual of making Brigid’s Crosses out of paper decorated with prayers to Brigid. Grafton and I wrote the following invocation to ask Brigid to join us. If you would like to use these words to invite Brigid’s presence and help, at Imbolc or at other times, please use them.
Hail Brigid,
Compassionate healer who nurtures and mends,
Clever smith who forges and tempers,
Speaker of words to lay low the mighty and uplift the beleaguered,
We come to you, hurting and hopeful,
As our world lies frozen, mired in greed and oppression
We come to you, hurting and hopeful,
As our world grows young again with returning light and warmth
We come to you, hurting and hopeful,
Beseeching your grace to sustain and restore us.
Kindle the flame that enlivens our hearts
With passion and playfulness, wisdom and courage
Brigid, our lady, we welcome you here!
